George Winter, originally from Wales, is a former actor and artist.
He appeared in Scum as Rhodes, and All Quiet On The Western Front directed by Delbert Mann. Starring in the West End he played the lead in The Corn is Green with Deborah Kerr at The Old Vic, and various lead parts in television Series such as The Bretts, The Knights of God, and as 'Merlin' in Merlin and the Crystal Caves.
Due to a debilitating and progressive illness, Winter changed direction and immersed himself in his love of art. He achieved a place at Bristol University as a mature student and studied for three years gaining a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art. Since leaving Bristol George has exhibited his painting several times at The Brewhouse Gallery in Taunton, The Alpha House Gallery, Sherborne, The Walker Gallery, Honiton and The Black Swan Gallery in Frome. His drawings have also been accepted and exhibited in consecutive years at The Cheltenham Open Drawing competition (now The Jerwood Drawing Prize).
Winter is married with four children, and currently lives in Somerset.
