Jackson
Jackson (Philip DaCosta) is a young inmate who shares a dorm with Banks, Richards, Eckersley and newcomer Carlin. He is inmate number 4568.
He is fearful of Banks' gang and keeps to himself, notably distressed when Carlin is viciously assaulted in his bed on his first night. He gains heart however, when Carlin later violently deals with Banks and his stooges, and is then unafraid to verbally stand up to Richards and Eckersley when their leader is hospitalised. He looks up to Carlin, and is on friendly terms with Rhodes.
Jackson is rather vain about his hair, constantly combing it, and whines when coal dirt is accidently tossed on it by Woods during daily shovel work.
